Reason why I look up to her: Owning her sexuality, creating incredible music

Known to many as 'Cindy Lou Who' or 'Jenny Humphrey', Taylor Momsen has transitioned from child star to rockstar, and managed to bash out  3 no.1 singles off of a top-ten album in the meantime

I first came across Taylor Momsen when I began my 'I'm-alternative-and-listen-to-music-other-than-pop-so-i'm-a-special-snowflake' phase, but my love for her music has stayed with me even after moving on from that embarrassing phase. I was drawn to her because she was outlandish. She had dark makeup, platinum hair, commanded herself in a way I wished I could and sang about things other than the basic 'girl meets boy' songs that were the only ones I seemed to be hearing at the time.

Taylor has continued to excel in a male dominated scene, owning her sexuality and holding her own. That in itself is something that inspires me. Taking one of the things that makes a women vunerable and turning it into something powerful.

Make sure to listen to her band The Pretty Reckless, if not to hear amazing music, to hear a kickass woman putting her heart into something she loves.
