Reason why I look up to her: Disregarding the restrictions put on women in the music industry 

Grimes is the creation of Claire Boucher, a multifaceted woman from Canada who has amassed an incredible array of accolades. She has been nominated for best Canadian album by Polaris Music prize, two Juno awards, one of which she won and has been met by widespread critical acclaim and positive responses from her audience.

However, possibly the most amazing thing about Grimes, is Grimes. Her music is otherworldly, her aesthetic is oddly pleasing and her outspoken persona on particular subjects is refreshing. Although I'm unsure whether or not she proclaims herself a feminist, her music and off hand comments in interviews certainly suggest she does. Her song 'Oblivion' is said to be about an assault she experienced, and I find the fact that she spoke out about it, even if in a subverted way, speaks volumes. In interviews her views are clear, saying the reason she likes 'Jedi Mind Tricks' is because "they're not, you know, shitty to women".
